Laboratory of Brucellosis

The Head of the Laboratory – Kalinovsky Aleksander Innokentevich, Doctor of Medical Sciences

The basic directions of scientific work:

  • Optimization of brucellosis epidemiological surveillance and improvement of anti-epidemic and preventive measures depending on different types of the infection foci;
  • Study of environmental biological and genetic features of several Brucella genus representatives (Brucella spp.);
  • Development and improvement of the brucellosis causative agent identification and differentiation methods;
  • Development of methodical bases for construction of brucellosis chemical vaccines and diagnostic test-systems.

Practical opportunities:

  • Analysis of a material suspected to brucellosis causative agent contamination;
  • Clinical laboratory diagnostics of brucellosis in typical and аtypical forms;
  • Indication of the brucellosis causative agent in an environment;
  • Training of health and veterinary specialists on the brucellosis problems;
  • Advisory methodical assistance to organization and realization of anti-epidemic and preventive measures depending on the infection focus type.

Laboratory of Anthrax

The basic directions of scientific researches:

  • Optimization of anthrax epidemiological surveillance and improvement of anti-epidemic and preventive measures;
  • Studying of ecological, biological and genetic peculiarities of the anthrax agent (Bacillus anthracis);
  • Development of indication methods for Bacillus anthracis in environments;
  • Development of methodical bases for construction of chemical vaccines against anthrax and diagnostic test-systems.

Practical opportunities:

  • Testing of a material suspected to Bacillus anthracis contamination;
  • Clinical laboratory diagnostics of Bacillus anthracis in humans and animals;
  • Precautionary sanitary epidemiological anthrax surveillance for the ground areas intended for land works;
  • Training of public health and veterinary specialists on anthrax problems;
  • Advisory methodical assistance to organization and realization of anti-epidemic and preventive measures in anthrax foci and in liquidation of consequences of extreme situations in conditions of Bacillus anthracis deliberate application.

Laboratory of Tularemia

The basic directions of scientific work:

  • Optimization of tularemia epidemiological surveillance and improvement of anti-epidemic and preventive measures depending on type and structure of the infection focus;
  • Studying of ecological and biological features of the tularemia causative agent (Francisella tularensis) circulating in different types of the infection foci;
  • Comparative studying of pathogenetic features of tularemia caused by Francisella tularensis of different subspecies.

Practical opportunities:

  • Testing of a material suspected to Francisella tularensis contamination;
  • Clinical laboratory diagnostics of tularemia in humans and main carriers;
  • Training of specialists on the tularemia problems;
  • Advisory methodical assistance on organization and realization of anti-epidemic and preventive measures in tularemia natural foci.
