Educational Activity

The Professional Training Department was created in 1938 for training and advancing of specialists on especially dangerous infections.

Now on the basis of the Federal license, extension courses and additional advanced training of specialists from Establishments of Federal Public Health Services are carried out with State documents (diplomas, personnel certifications, certificates) obtaining.

Kinds of Vocational Training

Extension courses:

Postgraduate study is founded at the Institute. Leading experts of the Institute train post-graduate students on epidemiology.

Additional education:

1. Primary specialization

• Primary specialization courses on especially dangerous infections for doctors and biologists. Duration - 4 months; cost - 18000 roubles;
• Primary specialization courses on especially dangerous infections for laboratory assistants. Duration - 3,5 months; cost - 15000 roubles.

2. Advanced training

• Advanced training courses on especially dangerous infections for doctors and biologists;
• Advanced training courses on especially dangerous infections for laboratory assistants;
• Advanced training courses on epidemiology and bacteriology for doctors;
• Thematic training cycle for doctors from sanitary quarantine points and stations;
• Extension courses on the problems of counteraction to bioterrorism for bacteriologists and epidemiologists;
• Internal-extramural cycle for doctors’ advanced training «Laboratory diagnostics of cholera» for specialists from Establishments of Federal Public Health Services;
• Internal-extramural cycle for doctors’ advanced training «Immunological methods of infectious disease diagnostics» for specialists from Establishments of Federal Public Health Services;
• A cycle for doctors’ advanced training «Indication of especially dangerous infectious causative agents» for specialists from Establishments of Federal Public Health Services;
• Training of specialists on the International medical sanitary rules (2005) and sanitary protection of territories of the Russian Federation;

Leading specialists of the Institute, having long-term experience of scientific practical work, read lectures and conduct the practical trainings. The students have an opportunity to become familiar with the rules and methods of safe operation with the agents of I-IV pathogenicity groups, to solve situational bacteriological and epidemiological problems. Computer programs developed by All-Russia Training Scientific and Methodical Center on Continuous Medical and Pharmaceutical Education of Public Health Ministry of the Russian Federation are used for testing of the received knowledge. Center of indication and identification of especially dangerous infectious agents is created on the basis of the Professional Training Department. The Center has modern equipment and consumables that provides carrying out the sample diagnostic examinations for presence of especially dangerous infectious agents of bacterial (plague, cholera, anthrax, tularemia, brucellosis) and virus (Crimea-Congo hemorrhagic fever, hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, enterovirus infections etc) etiology.
